Studies and Experimentation

This is a varied collection of pieces, but the thing they all have in common is experimentation.
Most of the experimentation here has to do with light, as that is something I struggle in depicting accurately.
When I create art I like to push myself to tackle my weaknesses, so that I can improve and grow. Staganting is something I never want to do.
The first pieces here are direct studies I did from references of dramatic lighting off of google, the red lighting piece I did inspired me to do these studies, as I was really struggling with how to both colour lighting, and how it affects the planes of the face.
The Hobie piece (purple lighting with the guitar) is a piece I did after these lighting studies, and compared to the blue and red lit pieces, I feel the improvement is noticable.
Though, I still have a long way to go, and will continue to push myself.
The last piece two pieces here are an experimentation with rendering, my art often tends to have strong lineart, and I so thought to try a style that fully omits lineart in favour of a more render-y style. After doing these pieces though, I concluded I prefer my strong lineart :D.
